Temporary insanity. That’s what I’ll call it! There’s not really any other way to explain myself. I’ll just get on with then, and tell you. Get it off my chest.
I ate meat.
There! I said it! Last week, in a state of absolute ravenous hunger, I accidentally, unconsciously ate a whole piece of ginger beef, if you can call it that. I mean, it was covered in a coating of batter, and sauces…hardly even has any meat in it. But still. It needs to be said.
We were visiting with my friends at the Chinese restaurant where I used to serve all summer to save for University. The smells in that kitchen…ohhh…sooo making me salivate! Then, we had to drive our order home, and the smell in the car of the salt and pepper squid! It was enough to drive me over the edge. OBVIOUSLY! I grabbed plates, and as I was opening the ginger beef, I grabbed a piece and popped in my mouth, devoured it without a thought. What’s worse? I started serving myself some, before coming to, and realizing with shock what I had just done!
Pescetarians everywhere are shamed by me.
The best part though, was after Liam had accidentally dropped a scoop of his ice cream on the floor while carrying it to the table. He sat down, turned to me and said all sympathetically, “What a crazy night, hey Mum?! First you eat meat, and then I drop my ice cream! Geesh!” Ya, Liam…thanks for putting it all in perspective for me, like only a five year old can!
